What’s coming 2024 and beyond
Friends of Sutton High Street
In Spring of 2024 we will be looking to engage with local community groups, volunteers and businesses to develop a ‘Friends of the High Street’. We feel this will encourage not only business ownership of our space but also that of residents. These friends will assist us with maintenance and community engagement through our green planting, graffiti removal, events and other key projects. To find out more about this, keep an eye on our news updates.
Sutton – Culture
We have a wealth of creativity in Sutton, which sits in our town centre but also other parts of the borough . We are keen to bring those creatives to the heart of our town centre to assist in the delivery of events and projects and assist us in shaping a cultural and creative space for our businesses and visitors to enjoy. We have been lucky enough to work with organisations like ‘The Sound Lounge’, Sami Art, Chaos, and other networks to deliver crafting, live music and other activities for our community. In 2024 we will be looking at ways to enhance this further.
Safer Spaces
We want everyone who comes to our district to feel safe but also supported in crisis. We will be working with local support organisations, national schemes and key partners to deliver an ‘umbrella’ safe spaces scheme which will provide training, signposting and support information for businesses to be able to give a safe space to anyone visiting our district that finds themselves in need of help.
