Sutton  Crime Reduction Partnership

What is the SCRP

The Sutton Business Crime Reduction Partnership (SCRP) is an informal collaborative network aimed at reducing business-related crime across Sutton Town Centre. It brings together local businesses, the Metropolitan Police, British Transport Police, London Borough of Sutton Council, and other key agencies to tackle crime and improve safety.

Who are its members?

All Successful Sutton BID Levy payers are members of the SCRP and can have representation to deal with issues impacting their business at regular meetings, engagement events and on a 1:1 basis with key partners to get those issues resolved.

What does the SCRP do?

Our aim is to reduce crime and help businesses prepare for potential threats. We do this through information sharing with the MET Police and Sutton Council but further in encouraging our business members to report crime wherever possible.

How does the SCRP help its members?

  • Information sharing with MET Police partners to identify prolific offenders.
  • Crime prevention training in collaboration with the police to help businesses safeguard against crime.
  • Counter Terrorism training in collaboration with the police.
  • Regular business engagement events with MET Police colleagues to give our members the opportunity to discuss issues impacting them and ask questions of our policing teams.

Additional SCRP initiatives:

A radio communication network part funded by the BID and used by over 80 different organisations in the Town Centre. The Radio scheme allows live information and intelligence sharing between businesses and links directly to our BID Support Officer and Town Centre Support Officer for active response and advice on live situations.

Our Town Centre radio is also linked to our Sutton MET Police Safer Neighbourhood Team officers when on patrol and Street Pastors who offer engagement on a Friday and Saturday evening with our most vulnerable.

Use the link to the page to find out more about the radio scheme, including costs and application form.

Our BID Support Officer is your support against business crime and anti social behavior in the Town Centre. The BID Support Officer works in partnership with our MET Police and PCSO officers often on joint patrol.

Further information about our BID Support Officer can be found by clicking the link to the page.

Pubwatch is an initiative run by and for our local night time economy venues. They look closely at prolific offenders, operate a behave or be barred scheme collectively and manage the night time economy space, making it safe for everyone. Click on the link above to find out more.

The BID Sponsors annual audit and membership to the Licensing Savi Scheme. This is a MET Approved scheme whereby L-Savi auditors attend site and review policies, procedures and processes with licensed premises to ensure they are operating safely for the benefit of their customers.

In addition the BID works proactively to ensure that businesses within our district are aware of and part of schemes to raise awareness and prevent violence against women and girls and be able to signpost survivors to relevant local organisations to provide them with the best support possible. We do this in partnership with Sutton based services Sutton Womens Centre, Sutton MET Police and Transform.
