Together with key partners we want to support our businesses over the next five years towards working in a more Sustainable way.
We will do this by enhancing our existing services and incorporating additional training, workshops, circular economy initiatives and biodiversity into our district.
We are committed to supporting our local area to achieve its environmental objectives by adding value to existing services for business wherever possible.
We recognise the needs of our Town Centre consumers have changed. Many are more conscious of the sourcing, sustainability and environmental impact of the products they purchase.
We will support our businesses to amplify the promotion of their products, offers and services which meet key environmental goals.
- Deliver sustainable waste solutions, with FREE mixed recycling and reduced cost general waste management.
- Support the Council’s sustainable development plans for the high street, lobbying for further improvements to the public realm.
- Promote the use of our ‘free water’ refill scheme to High Street vendors, negating the use of single use plastics.
- Use local providers for all of our events and activities, running them in an environmentally conscious way as well as reducing the footprint to our district.
- Support the Council’s drive towards sustainability and addressing the climate emergency, including promoting greening and sustainable transport in the area and improved areas for cycling and walking.
- Expand our ‘green planting’ and High Street biodiversity activity.
- Work in partnership with our Council on the delivery of a ‘Green Enterprise’ network, supporting businesses through training, funding opportunities, local providers and networking events.
- Promote and incentivise more environmentally conscious modes of transportation for both travel and deliveries for our Town Centre businesses and staff.
