We are very excited to share that Councillor Jake Short, Chair of the Housing, Economy and Business Committee, has officially announced the highly anticipated return of the Sutton Business Awards 2026.
The awards mark a powerful three-way partnership between Sutton Council and the borough’s two Business Improvement districts (BID’s), ensuring that every corner of the business community is represented.
The highly anticipated launch marks the return of the awards after many years. Run in partnership between Sutton Council, Sutton BID (Successful Sutton/Enjoy Sutton), and KIPPA BID (Kimpton Industrial Park), the awards aim to unite the borough’s vast retail, scientific, and industrial sectors under one celebratory banner.
Sutton boasts a booming economy powered by over 8,000 businesses. The borough is home to 3,954 registered commercial properties with many more thriving enterprises operating without physical premises. The awards are designed to foster a strong business environment across all 20 wards, celebrating the distinct character of Sutton’s seven district centres and 29 local centres. These vibrant high streets, serving local residents with everything from long-standing independent shops to national chains, consistently maintain robust occupancy levels.
Councillor Jake Short emphasised the importance of these awards: “We are so excited to bring these awards back to Sutton and showcase the incredible, diverse organisations that make our borough a dynamic hub for growth. From our busy construction firms to the pioneering technical industries growing near the London Cancer Hub, celebrating these achievements directly supports our new Economic Growth Plan and Inward Investment strategy. It proves to the wider region that Sutton is open for business, innovation, and long-term investment.”
Patricia Park, CEO of Sutton BID, commented on the impact for the high street: “For our retail, leisure, and hospitality sectors, these awards are a fantastic way to build closer links with residents. It gives our community a chance to show their appreciation for the businesses that keep our town centres vibrant and unique.”
Colin Newton, Chair of the KIPPA BID, added: “Sutton is home to incredible manufacturing, trade, and innovation hubs like Kimpton Industrial Park. The return of these awards ensures that our vital industrial sectors get the high-profile recognition they deserve for driving local employment and economic growth.”
